Vice-Rector for Social Development of KazNPU named after Abai Shyngys Nurlanov answered the students' questions about how the new academic year will be organized, about vaccination and providing students with hostels.
- In what format will be organized education at Abai University in the new academic year?
- As is customary in all educational institutions, Abay KazNPU begins preparation for the new one even before the end of the current academic year. Defects are eliminated and problems are solved, if any, plans are made taking into account the new requirements of the day, etc. Unfortunately, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has adjusted the activities of our university this year as well. However, having already gained some experience of working under the quarantine regime and monitoring the current situation, I believe that we are ready to conduct training in any form, although we prefer the traditional form: after all, pedagogy is a profession of a social nature.
In accordance with the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, each educational institution can use a blended learning format depending on its academic policy and conditions; our university has decided to introduce blended learning in the 2021-2022 academic year.
Therefore, lectures will be held online, and seminars, practices, laboratory and physical education classes will be offline. Moreover, of course, in compliance with all the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological regime.
Students of 1-2 courses enrolled in undergraduate educational programs will start their studies from September 6, students of 3-4-5 courses - from September 1. Pedagogical (industrial) practice for 4th year students will held in the traditional form from September 16, 2021 to April 30, 2022.
Students of educational programs of master's and PhD doctoral studies from September 6 of this year will study in a mixed format, in which research work and practice will held offline, the rest of the classes online.
- Are students required to receive the vaccine? In addition, how will unvaccinated students study?
- The only way to stop the spread of coronavirus infection is mass vaccination. Therefore, each person must approach this situation consciously and with great responsibility for own health and the health of surrounding people.
Minister of Health Alexei Tsoi at a government meeting noted that when educational institutions switch to a traditional format of education, it is necessary to provide 100% vaccination of teachers and workers, staff of dormitories and canteens, students over 18 years old. Vaccination is at the center of our attention.
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection the entrance will be through the Ashyq system in the buildings of educational institutions, dormitories, libraries. Specialists from the medical center of the university will also work in educational buildings and dormitories, who will monitor the implementation of the mask regime and other sanitary requirements.
Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University from July 1 to August 25, 2021 held a series of drawings among students who received the first component of the COVID-19 vaccine. Various prizes raffled off, including cash. For example, the students who became the first winners of these drawings went on a three-day vacation (July 22-24 this year) to the Ustaz base in Kapshaga
The winners were identified by the random number generator https://randomus.ru/list , as a result of the drawing, 50 students won vacation packages in Kapshagai, 60 students received a certificate for free English courses and 100 students received a 5% discount on the annual tuition fee .
At the present, about 70% of students and 80% of the university faculty have received the required dose of vaccination. Further, our goal is to reach 100. We understand that today vaccination is the most effective means against coronavirus.
- How is the issue of providing students with places in a hostel solved at your university?
- This year, as of August 26, 2021, 6,348 people admitted to our university, including 5,573 undergraduate students and 775 master students. In comparison with last year, the number of students enrolled at Abay KazNPU has increased. In addition, admission to the paid department continues. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to provide everyone with dormitories. There are only five dormitories on the balance of the universit
Freshmen are more likely to get places in dorms. This process considered by a special composition of the commission and carried out through an automated system. Along with students' applications, accepted documents that determine their social status, health and status.
When settling into hostels, priority given to representatives of socially vulnerable segments of the population. For example, orphans and children left without parental care, persons whose one or both parents are disabled; persons with disabilities, disabled since childhood, disabled people of I and II groups. First-year students also have priority, as they are in the process of adapting to new conditions. Accommodation in hostels carried out with 100% vaccination of students who have reached the age of 18 and who have a medical exemption. I would like to note that above-mentioned categories is priority to provide with dormitories vaccinated 1st year students.
In order to solve the problem of shortage of beds, we are working on accepting investment proposals from potential investors for the construction of dormitories for our universit Thus, we plan to resolve this issue.
As you know, projects on the construction of dormitories implemented as part of the third of five social initiatives of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N. Nazarbayev, voiced in his Message to the people of Kazakhstan dated March 5, 2018. In order to improve the living conditions of young students, the authorized bodies and heads of universities and colleges given the task of providing students with over 75,000 beds by the end of 2022.
