On October 6, within the framework of the “Fifth Multilateral Forum of North and Central Asia on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”, the Fourth Session on SDG 4: Quality Education held online.
The meeting discussed key aspects of education quality in relation to early childhood education and access to equitable educational services in North and Central Asia. The speakers discussed the forecasts of this area of sustainable development for the period up to 2030, as well as how education at all levels and support for its improvement are an important basis for sustainable development.
Sholpan Karinova, First Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan made a presentation on Modern trends and innovative approaches in teacher training in the era of COVID-19 and noted the main objectives to achieve SDG 4.
Meirgul Alpysbayeva, National Education Program Officer, UNESCO Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan presented the status and trends in the area covered by SDG 4 in North and Central Asia and suggested solutions to improve the quality of education during pandemics. Zakhira Begaliyeva, director of the ITeachMe Public Foundation Competence Development Center, also, spoke about the activities of the foundation and shared her experience in creating equal conditions for students with disabilities receiving education at ITeachMe.
Speakers from the countries of Russia, Kyrgyzstan made a report on the achievements, goals and objectives for SDG 4. Specialists from Europe presented forecasts based on research, at the same time they offered advice on improving the quality and circumstances regarding preschool education.
