From April 17 to 21, 2023, 1st year students of the dual education program "6B01303-Primary Education with ICT" of the of the Institute of Education and Psychology had their first study placement! They had been attending the NGS New Generation School for the entire academic year as part of their apprenticeship, and this experience showed that the apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs could be successfully integrated. During the internship period, it was decided to hold STEM festivals in the third grades! The first-year interns ran five festivals. They carefully thought through the scenarios and prepared the necessary materials for a scientific experiment with a volcano at the "Science" station, coded and decoded information at the "Technology" station, tried their hand at non-standard tasks for spatial thinking and logic at the "Mathematics" station and visited the "Engineering" station as civil engineers. The team leader, acting professor Asel Akpaeva, the head of practice, acting professor Larisa Lebedeva, and the director of the Junior School Academic Achievement Department, Raushan Bekmuratova, assisted in the festivities. Each pupil thought about the science connection for the first time and received a certificate for active participation! The interns observed the pupils and analysed how they got involved. This was a rewarding experience for both pupils and students alike during the internship. The interns also observed the lessons and helped the school counsellors. The dual program is gaining momentum and once again proves that the partnership between the school and the university has a strong influence on the student`s immersion into the profession, even in their first year! Professor Asyl Arenova, Maral Baimakhambetova, PhD student of the Department of Primary Education, and 3rd year students of the Institute were the guests of the festival. The dual pilot program was launched within the framework of the project "Introduction of Dual System in Kazakhstan - KAZDUAL" of the Erasmus+ program.
