The year 2023 was marked by significant achievements for Abai KazNPU. During this period, our scientists and researchers were active in various fields of science and technology, setting new standards and exceeding expectations. Thus, in the Top 50 of the General Rating of the Faculty of Pedagogical Staff of Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan (NAAR) were 5 professors of Abai University: Kosov V.N., Buribaev E.A., Khamzina J.A., Berdyshev A.S., Zharmaganbetova A.K., as well as 1 young scientist Tileuberdi E., who is the author of the monograph "Dictionary of the Muqagli language". The authors of the monograph "Mukagali tili sөzdigi" - Kurmanbayuly Sherubai, Tuimebaev Zhanseit, Kaliev Bayinkul and Isakova Sabira, prepared by the Centre of Turkology named after N.Kelimbetov Abai University - were awarded the Sh.Valikhanov Prize for the best scientific research in the field of humanities.
Three scientists of Abai University PhD Kymbat Bekenaeva, PhD Duman Aliaskarov and Professor Bolat Zhumagulov were honoured with the title "The best teacher of the university-2023". State scientific scholarships were awarded to three scientists of Abai University: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Berdyshev Abdumauvlenov, PhD, post-doctoral students Baishemirov Zharasbek and Seilhan Ainur.
Also 20 scientists of the University became the owners of grants for scientific internships in leading universities and research and production centres abroad within the framework of Bolashak project "500 scientists".
This year, faculty and staff of the University published more than 300 scientific articles in foreign journals indexed in Scopus (211) and Web of Science (100). It should be noted that the share of publications in highly rated journals Q1, Q2 increased by 20% compared to the previous year.
In 2023, Abai University successfully implements 61 research projects from the national budget, including 56 research projects of grant funding of MSHE RK, 4 projects of program-targeted funding and 1 commercialisation project. This indicator increased by 74 per cent compared to last year, as the number of projects was 35 in 2022. The main directions of the projects are "Education and Sciences" and "Research in Social Sciences and Humanities".
The University always supports teaching staff and young scientists by allocating funds from its budget for the development of their promising ideas. Thus, an annual internal grant competition is organised for young scientists, faculty and staff. In addition, Abai University was one of the first in the country to introduce a post-doctoral programme, the number of its participants is currently 28 people. In 2023, Abai University graduated the second stream of post-doctoral students - 7 young talented scientists.
