The forum “Central Asia's Sustainable Development Goals in a Changing Global Order” was held in Almaty.
On September 19, 2025, the international forum “Central Asia's Sustainable Development Goals in a Changing Global Order” took place in Almaty at the “Ғылым ордасы” building. The event was jointly organized by the Kazakh-German University, the National Academy of Sciences under the President of Kazakhstan, and the Alliance of Ruhr Region Universities (Germany). This forum aimed to foster dialogue on sustainable development challenges and opportunities in Central Asia amid global changes.
The forum brought together representatives from science, politics, business, and international organizations. It served as a strategic platform to exchange ideas and promote cooperation. Key organizers included the Kazakh-German University, the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, and German universities within the Ruhr region.
The forum opened with welcoming speeches from prominent figures: Professor Akhylbek Kurishbaev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan; Professor Wolrad Rommel, President of the Kazakh-German University; Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan (online); Natalya Dauletiarova, Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Culture and Policy at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan (online); Matthias Kisler, German Consul General in Almaty; Professor Martin Paul, Rector of Ruhr University Bochum; and Professor Karin Jakobs, Vice-President of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
