Similarities and Differences of the 3R and 6R Concepts and Their Implementation Opportunities at Abai University
On December 5, 2025, activists of the Ayala Eco Club conducted a training session for students of the Faculty of Philology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University within the framework of the discipline “Ecology and Sustainable Development.”
A total of 130 students participated in the event, where interactive games, quizzes, and discussions were organized. The active involvement of participants demonstrated students’ growing interest in environmental protection and waste management issues.
The main purpose of the training was to explain the essence of the 3R and 6R concepts, identify their similarities and differences, and discuss opportunities for implementing these approaches at Abai University in order to reduce the negative environmental impact of waste.
The mission of the event was to promote ecological culture and sustainable development principles among students.
During the training, participants:
explored practical ways to implement the 3R and 6R concepts at the university to minimize waste;
identified and analyzed the key similarities and differences between the two concepts;
discussed the importance of transitioning from the traditional 3R model to the more comprehensive 6R approach;
increased students’ environmental awareness and responsibility.
The event contributed to strengthening students’ ecological consciousness and encouraging sustainable environmental practices within the university community.
