As part of the university’s Green Campus strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography held an event titled “Clean Water – a Key to Health,” dedicated to World Water Day on March 22. The aim of the event was to enhance students’ environmental awareness, promote rational water use, and draw attention to SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Students presented reports on the importance of clean drinking water, water scarcity issues, and water conservation practices. Research on drinking water quality in different districts of Almaty and laboratory analyses were also presented. As part of environmental initiatives, additional filtered drinking fountains “AquaPoint” were installed at the university in 2025 to provide access to clean water and reduce plastic waste.
